Jane Gore: Abuse Counselling

Abuse Counselling: I am a qualified and experienced integrative therapist with a background of working with adults and young adults. I am passionate about working with adults and adolescents who have experienced emotional and physical distress through trauma. I have five years’ experience of working with survivors who have experienced sexual abuse.

I am committed to and value the process of therapeutic change and understand the importance of providing a safe space in which to explore and work on your issues. I feel that engaging within therapy should help promote your journey to greater awareness, insight and emotional and psychological growth.

If you feel that you may benefit from attending sessions with me, we can arrange an initial assessment session, then mutually discuss your issues and needs. I offer both short and long term therapy. Please contact me to setup an appointment.

Domestic abuse and violence tears lives apart. One in 3 women experience physical or sexual violence, or both, caused by someone known to them.

It affects women, children, the family and the community. And it has big personal, social and economic effects.

Effects on the victim

1) Death, illness, injury and disability — domestic and family violence is the leading cause of death, illness and disability for women aged under 45
2) Emotional and psychological trauma — the devastating impact on an individual’s physical, mental and emotional health including depression, shame, anger and suicide
3) Homelessness — nearly one-third of people in the UK seeking help for homelessness services say domestic and family violence is an issue
4) Use of alcohol and other drugs to deal with the pain
5) Physical health injuries and problems, which may not get medically treated
